how it was
We knew we wanted exploring to be one of our family values, but when our daughter arrived in 2016, we were truly challenged to ensure we were living our values. There are so many groups out there that cater to different types of people: parenting groups, singles groups, hiking groups, backpacking groups, and more; but what we couldn’t find were groups that supported family outings. We were longing for something that brought families together through their love of the outdoors, their desire to explore and adventure with their kids, and connect with nature while connecting with others. So, we created it. We wanted to build a community that emphasized family experiences in the outdoors, but also took out the anxiety that might come with planning these kinds of hikes or day trips. Through Trek the Trails, we share our love for family time and the outdoors while also detailing the length, difficulty, and family friendliness of local hikes to take some of the “work” out of family adventuring.
